My Northstar pump wasn't self-priming the way it used to, and I eventually determined that the gasket on my strainer lid must've needed replacing (pressing hard on the top of the lid allowed the pump to eventually prime). I could've just gotten a gasket but my existing strainer lid was hard to see through, so I figured that I'd get a completely new lid and gasket (the gasket comes with the lid). I was happy to see that it was a genuine Hayward part when it arrived. I had to put the gasket on myself, but that was easy, I just referred to my old lid to make sure I had it positioned properly. The lid fit perfectly, the pump primed all on its own, and I can actually see the strainer basket and its contents -- everything is completely transparent again! I'm very happy. The price here was very competitive when you considered shipping. I opted for the 2-day shipping and the price was still lower than if I would've placed the order through a local pool store. I am very satisified and happy with this purchase.
