This is a great option to protect your hot tub and vinyl hot tub cover from tree sap, leaves, weather etc. and even the effects of fading. I used a spray on waterproofing to help protect this cover and the rainfall beads and rolls right off after removing the cover plus, it still looks brand new a month later. I primarily purchased it to keep my cats off of the expensive hot tub cover and this fits my 7'9"x7'5" hot tub perfectly. It may only be a tarp look a like but the four sides and the drawstring do come in handy with securing it and keeping the hot tub more maintenance free. I am not sure what the lifespan will be (which is the only reason I can't give it a five yet) but, if it keeps my expensive hot tub cleaner and protects it, then it is well worth getting another one later on.
