I am a major fan of Amazon and buy from them when I can, including many items on subscription. Unfortunately, the two Fab Habitat rugs I bought are simply awful--not at all what I would expect from Amazon.com.

These rugs are touted as environmentally sound and probably are -- they even come with nifty burlap tie-bags for storage. BUT:

1. one rug has a very obvious line down the middle, perhaps where two pieces were joined (?). Whatever it is, it looks bad;
2. some edges were nicely finished, but other edges are of a different pattern that is not consistent, making the rugs look cheap and sloppy;
3. the material from which they are made is bright, shiny plastic and looks as far from natural as you could get;
4. the rugs are slippery. Light-weight items put on them (like other rugs) will slide (possible hazard for falling?);
5. the rugs will not lie flat on the floor and, even when anchored with furniture, bunch up;
6. the material is somewhat "puffy" which would be fine, but chairs and other furniture make noticeable, apparently permanent, indentations. Because the rugs are reversible -- blue on one side and cream on the other, the indentations sometimes fall the wrong way, and the color of the other side shows. In other words, the cream shows up on the navy as spots -- looks quite strange.
7. While I was primed for a "manufactured" look, rather than "woven", to me these rugs are not pleasing to the eye -- and aren't particularly fun for the feet either.

I can think of nothing to recommend this purchase. What more can I say? I only hope that Amazon will be kind and let me return them without having to pay Big Bucks for shipping. More later...

Update: So far, Amazon has been great about returning these items. They have emailed me a return shipping authorization and promise a full refund. Now all I have to do is pack these suckers up using their hemp storage bags and lots of tape.

Final update: Shipped the rugs off yesterday using the bar-coded return shipping label. TODAY received an email from Amazon saying that my account has been credited. Amazing, Amazon! Really. So different from some other on-line merchants who couldn't care less about the customer and do everything possible to prevent returns/pay for shipping.
