I use this rain barrel to collect all my water needs.Pros:
Light weight, packs up nicely.
Rugged material,zippers, and stands strong.
Opens easily .easy to clean.
Affordable .
Cons:
Top has screen let's in small debri( fine for gardening water)
However I use mine for collecting shower, drinking, cooking, laundry ,flushing water. So I sewed a fine t-shirt material to fit the top . It fits snug filters all debri out and keeps bugs from trying to crawl in the sides.
-I needed to buy a spout for the bottom ($5)
I chose this barrel because I liked how it opens up, it's seems strong for something that is portable ,and it's not too big so I won't have water sitting around too long before I use it. The water never touches my actual roof , it runs off a tarp and the first few few minutes of rain is channeled elswhere before collecting in rain barrel.I collect about 100 gallons every few weeks which I transfer to different containers as it is collected . I treat most of the water with very little bleach when storing it.the drinking water and cooking water all gets boiled before being filtered through ceramic and activated carbon filters . Redundant , I know but taste good.
